Madonna Boston Tickets for her 9/4/2012 show at the Boston TD Bank Garden are now available, fresh off her halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVI comes details of the Madonna 2012 World Tour. The trek will begin May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, and will be her most extensive tour ever in terms of number of dates, according to Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, worldwide producers of the tour. The tour will take Madonna to Boston and Austrialia for the first time in 20 years, as well as many markets she has never played before.

The tour will play arenas, stadiums and unique outdoor sights, including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec. Fogel tells Billboard.com that production for the tour is in the conceptual stages, but did say, "it will be big and can get bigger," depending on the venue.

The tour will play 26 European markets, including Madonna Boston, London, Paris, Milan and Berlin, before hitting North American shores beginning Aug. 28 in Philadelphia. Twenty-six shows are planned for North America, including a Sept. 6 show at New York's Yankee Stadium, and an Oct. l0 performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale beginning Feb. 10 in Tel Aviv and the U.K., with North American tickets going on sale beginning Feb. 13. Van Halen Boston Warm up in Hollywood Claims Rave Reviews

Before Van Halen Boston Tickets sell out last wednesday night for a tiny group of maybe 300 industry insiders at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood -- historic former home of the Muppets, A&M Records and Charlie Chaplin -- giant video screens, one wall short of completely surrounding the audience, broadcast images from the band's recent past: Lyric sheets. Still photos of a thin-haired Eddie Van Halen with a wide-mouthed grin on his face. Gif-style epeating clips of sometimes-estranged frontman David Lee Roth shimmying his feet from side to side.
Though this show was ostensibly a warmup for VH's coming arena tour (leaving from Louisville in two weeks and arriving in June for dates at in Anaheim, L.A. and San Diego), it was also something of a coming-out party for the mostly original version of the band, which initially reunited at the time of its Hall of Fame induction in 2007 and followed that with a yearlong tour. Tuesday, Feb. 7, brings the first album of new Roth-sung material from the group in decades: A Different Kind of Truth, recorded, not coincidentally, at Henson.

Despite the massive wave of nostalgia that flooded the room (and Roth's memory, which reeled back to early gigs at "temples" nearby like Gazzarri's, now the Key Club), these L.A. legends would have been blameless if they'd used this promotional occasion as an opportunity to showcase new material, rather than run through hits. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.
For an hour, opening with their classic cover of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me" and ending a dozen songs later with a quasi-encore of "Jump" -- abetted by a team of Brazilian-style percussionists and a gaggle of Vegas showgirls in skimpy outfits and headdresses -- Van Halen were mostly about the past, staggering a bevy of staples ("Runnin' with the Devil," "Hot for Teacher," "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love") with just three new cuts from Truth. "The Trouble with Never" came first, a funky groove with hints of Hendrix and the Chili Peppers, followed by the glam-rock holler of "She's the Woman" and, later, current single "Tattoo." All of them fit seamlessly into the set, thanks to Roth's still-strong wail (if not phrasing) and Eddie Van Halen's shredtastic fretwork. "Tattoo" especially felt as if it were straight from the band's heyday, which only makes sense, considering it's a revamp of a track that dates back to '78.

That isn't to say this arena show is quite ready for prime time; whenever Roth indulged one of his trademark leg shoulder-high kicks, it seemed like he was still stretching his muscles. In such a small setting, the band's weaknesses became more apparent than they might be at, say, Staples.
Youngster Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, does a respectable job on bass (in place of Michael Anthony) but he never quite locks in with his uncle Alex's perfunctory drum work. "Unchained" was wobbly in spots, suggesting Roth isn't fully interested in singing verses as sharply as choruses, but on "Panama" things got particularly sloppy, with all three Van Halens struggling to find that radio-rocker's recognizable rhythm.

As for Diamond Dave, at 56 still a ham stuffed with one-liners both corny and saucy ("I do more than ease the seat back -- I got a seven-way seat now, motherf***er!") ... well, unlike AARP-eligible peers from Mick Jagger to Paul McCartney, when Roth mugs, his age shines through, making him look a bit more like Creepy Sunset Strip Dude than Cool as Sh*t Rocker, although his energy certainly hasn't waned in the least.

Van Halen Boston Tickets are selling fast and Hopefully (and probably), on a bigger stage in a bigger room with a bigger crowd these criticisms will be minimized rather than magnified. There's no reason to think they won't. In the images here that sometimes flanked the once bitterly parted gang, Van Halen still looked like the biggest band in the world -- and not just because each of them was 20-some feet tall.

Pink Floyd rocker Roger Waters Tour has already announced a bunch of dates for his ‘The Wall’ North American summer trek, which scheduled to kick off May 1 in Houston and run through a July 14 gig in Philadelphia. The one and only show that has not yet been revealed is a much-rumored stop is home at Boston’s Fenway Park, where ‘The Wall’ would fit in quite nicely next to the ballpark’s famed 37-foot-tall wall in left field known as the Green Monster. It almost seems like destiny that ‘The Wall’ would be performed next to the wall does it not?. But will it happen? We have been saying Roger Waters Tour will rock Fenway on July 1 for some time now, and thanks to a billboard that recently went up in nearby Kenmore Square we have something to our claim. So, while July 1 Roger Waters Fenway Park still hasn’t been confirmed, it seems likely that Roger Waters Boston Tickets will be available shortly. Elsewhere, Roger Waters Tour has added a second date (July 7) at New York’s Yankee Stadium.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were forced to postpone their North American tour earlier this month due to an injury. But when the band does return to the road in March, it will be with a newly extended calendar of concerts.

Interspersed among the 23 rescheduled concerts of the I'm With You Tour are 16 entirely new dates for the Northeast and Central regions of the United States and Canada including Boston.

RHCP's new batch of dates picks up April 27 at Air Canada Center in Toronto, ON, and runs through June 7 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY. Included are stops on May 7 at TD Garden in Boston, MA; May 25 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MO; and June 2 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Boston Tickets for these new tour dates go on sale to the public January 22. More information is available on RHCP's official Web site.

The North American leg of the I'm With You Tour had been scheduled to launch today, January 20.

The band was forced to reschedule the outing earlier this month as frontman Anthony Kiedis recovers from foot surgery. According to a January 11 band statement, the musician "recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot and is expected to make a full recovery."

U.S. tour dates now begin March 29 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, FL. All previously booked dates have been rescheduled through October 25 in North Little Rock, AR, and the band's Web site lists 16 of the dates as being sold out.

Van Halen Tickets Boston Selling Out Fast!

Only a few hundred Van Halen tickets Boston remain for the first night at the Boston Garden in six years, after more than 12400 tickets sold during the second day of sales.

The Concert for Van Halen Boston Tickets first night at the garden went on sale via Greater Boston Tickets on Saturday.

At 8 a.m., the remaining 21700 single-seat tickets went on sale on Greater Boston Tickets website, and at the Garden' ticket office at Boston, said Jason Smith. By mid-morning, around 2400 tickets remained and as of 4 p.m. only a few hundred seats were left for Van Halen.

"It shows the excitement this region has for this Band," Smith said. "It's clear that our fans are ready for Van Halen."

Greater Boston Tickets did not recognize the zip code of 13 people trying to buy tickets yesterday, but those customers did receive tickets to the show Smith said.

The Black Keys Boston Tickets Now Available

The Black Keys have added a second leg of dates to their first-ever arena tour of North America including The Black Keys Boston March 7th 2012 at the TD Garden.

Fifteen concerts are booked for the new spring outing, which primarily focuses on West Coast and Canadian markets. The leg picks up with a previously announced show on April 24 at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX.

Other scheduled stops on the arena run include April 30 at 1st Bank Center in Denver, CO; May 7 at the Rose Garden in Portland, OR; and May 14 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB. The leg is presently set to wrap May 16 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Fan presales begin at 10 a.m. local time tomorrow, January 10, and onsales open to the general public over the January 13–14 weekend. The Black Keys Boston Tickets prices follow a similar structure to the tour's still-upcoming first leg, with face values running between $30 and $55 in U.S. and Canadian markets.

Onsales started early last month for the Keys' initial 2012 tour leg, which will run throughout month of March. Several of those dates have already sold out, including a March 12 gig at Madison Square Garden, according to the band's official Web site.

English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys is supporting both legs of The Black Keys' North American tour.

Based out of Akron, OH, the blues-rock duo already has more than a half-dozen albums under its belt. But vocalist-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney didn't break into the mainstream until the May 2010 release of the critically acclaimed "Brothers" hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Its a New Year in Boston, which means that many artists and bands will soon be hitting the road for tours. 2012 will be a big year for concerts, with some acts continuing tours from last year. Other acts, such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, are returning to the stage for the first time in several years. This is going to be a huge year for concerts. Radiohead, Madonna, Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen and many other giant acts are hitting the road and coming to Boston. Also, a Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour seems probable, though far from confirmed at the moment. Since its a New Year we decided to compile a list of the top ten most anticipated tours of the year, and well here it is.

1. The Rolling Stones Boston: The Rolling Stones haven't played a concert since the summer of 2007 Rumors have been swirling that they're going to tour this year in celebration of their 50th anniversary. Most members of the band are on record saying they hope it happens, but it's going to be Mick Jagger's decision. The group reportedly jammed together in December, and even brought Bill Wyman back to the fold. We're all praying they wind up hitting the road and when they do Rolling Stones Boston Tickets are going to sell like wildfires in the west!

2: Madonna Boston: Almost no live act on the planet sells more concert tickets than Madonna. She hasn't been on the road since 2008, but this year she's going to release a new LP and tour the world to support it. Details will probably be announced shortly after her Super Bowl halftime set. Expect lots of new songs and many radically re-worked hits from her past. Also, expect to pay an insane amount of money for tickets. 3: Van Halen Boston: Van Halen gave the New York press a taste of their upcoming world tour at the tiny basement club Café Wha? earlier this month. Much like in 2007, original frontman David Lee Roth is back at the helm – but bassist Michael Anthony has been dumped in favor of Eddie Van Halen's song Wolfgang. 4: Bruce Springsteen Boston: Not much is known about Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's upcoming world tour. We don't know how they're going to deal with the absence of Clarence Clemons. We don't know the American dates. We don't know much of anything about the new album they're supporting. We do know that they're going to spend much of 2012 on the road in support of a new album, and American dates including Bruce Springsteen Boston Tickets will likely kick off sometime in March. 5: Roger Waters Boston: When Pink Floyd brought The Wall on the road in 1980/81, they only hit four cities across the world. It's since been all over the world, but he's spending the first seven months of 2012 taking it to South America and all across the U.S. – even hitting a number of baseball stadiums. A Pink Floyd reunion feels pretty unlikely at the moment, so this is as close to the Floyd experience as fans are probably ever going to get. 6: Black Sabbath Boston: The original line-up of Black Sabbath reunited in 1997 and toured off and on until 2005, but they never managed to cut a new album. The group got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, and soon afterwards the group reunited with second singer Ronnie James Dio and wound up in a lawsuit with Ozzy Osbourne over the band's trademark. A reunion seemed unlikely, but last year they put aside their differences to begin work on their first album since 1978's Never Say Die!. A world tour is slated to begin in May, but Tony Iommi just announced that he's undergoing treatment for lymphoma. The diagnosis reportedly caused them to back out of a planned performance at Coachella in April, and it's unknown if the other dates are going to happen. We wish Tony a speedy recovery and when they do decide Black Sabbath Boston Tickets will sell out fast.

7: Radiohead Boston: Most bands tour shortly after the release of a new album, but Radiohead aren't most bands. They decided to wait an entire year after The King of Limbs hit shelves to tour, largely because touring drummer Clive Deamer was busy touring with Portishead. Now that he's free the band is going to spend much of 2012 touring, starting in Miami in February. Don't expect a greatest hits set, though. "Last time we went out, it felt very much like In Rainbows plus the greatest hits," Ed O'Brien told the BBC last year. "And it’s not going to be like that this time. I guess it’s going to be predominantly from this record and the last record, and then see which songs fit around that.” Radiohead Boston Tickets will be available soon as soon as a date is created by Ed and band.

If the 2011 European tour is any guide, expect a heavy dose of songs from John Frusciante's tenure in the band. Kendall thinks it would be "really interesting if Jo came back—let's just hope Kendall doesn't have a girlfriend; that would be drama! Obviously I'd also like to see my character have a lot of funny stuff; he's always been kind of the straight guy, so it'd be cool to have a couple goofy storylines in the third season."

Logan would like his character to learn more and take more risks, as well as see where his different relationships take him. Sounds like Logan would like to see his TV personality grow up a bit!

They’ll be playing arenas when they tour next month, but on Thursday night, a regrouped Van Halen provided thrills in a tiny club where a VIP crowd stood elbow to elbow as the storied band played some of their greatest hits including “Jump” and “Panama.” Van Halen Boston Tickets are already available and selling quickly.

“Welcome to Occupy Van Halen, ladies and gentleman!” frontman David Lee Roth yelled just before the band launched into “You Really Got Me,” the first in an approximately hour-long, high energy set.

The show was at the famed Cafe Wha? in New York’s West Village — a club owned by Manny Roth, the uncle of Roth. David Lee Roth noted some of the greats that played in the club — including Bob Dylan — and told the crowd, “I’m more nervous about this gig than I would ever be in the Garden,” referring to Madison Square Garden.

The band will soon be playing the Garden and other venues like it, including the TD Garden in Boston on March 11, as they kick off a nationwide tour next month. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers start the tour in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 16. They’ll also be promoting a new album: The group announced Wednesday that they’ll release “A Different Kind of Truth” on Feb. 7, the group’s first album with Roth since their celebrated album “1984,” released that same year.

Van Halen has gone through plenty of changes since then. Roth left the band for a solo career and was replaced with Sammy Hagar in a messy breakup; he later returned to the band as Hagar exited in a split that had just as much discord. There would be more turmoil as bassist Michael Anthony was replaced a few years ago with Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of guitar great Eddie Van Halen Boston Tickets.

But it was all smiles on Wednesday, as father and son, along with Eddie’s brother and drummer Alex were all on hand as the reconstituted group played a warm-up of sorts before their nationwide tour, their first together in almost four years.

opening and/or closing ceremonies at this summer’s Olympic Games
in London. Recent speculation has included the reformations of
Queen, Led Zeppelin and some new version of The Beatles.

Now, the London Evening Standard is positing that the surviving
members of Pink Floyd will team up for the big event. Roger Waters,
David Gilmour and Nick Mason last got together at one of the London
stops on Waters’ The Wall tour. Of course, those three musicians and
the late Rick Wright also reunited at 2005’s Live 8 concert.

“Its long been made clear it would take something very special to get
Pink Floyd back together again and it doesn’t get any bigger than the
Olympics,” an insider said. “Like Sir Paul [McCartney, rumored to play
at the opening ceremonies] they have been a major part of the nation's
culture over the past 40 years and it will be very fitting that they’re
involved when London is on show to the world. It’s hoped everything
can be confirmed in the coming weeks.”

"This is all simply not true" said a spokesman of the band to Outside
The Wall." Roger Waters Tour is in full swing this summer with more
shows expected to be released for August in North America, and David
Gilmour is working on a new album to possibly be toured in late 2012-
2013. These sorts of rumors are spread about like mad every few
months and it really disrupts the band members focus on there current
projects".

During a interview about Roger Waters The Wall Tour Roger has this
to say about another possible reunion. I'm not as young as I used to
be. I'm not like B.B. King, or Muddy Waters," the 66-year-old said. "My
friend Eric Clapton ... he'll be playing guitar and he'll be on stage 'til the
day he dies, because that's what he does."

"I'm not a great vocalist or a great instrumentalist or whatever, but I still
have the fire in my belly, and I have something to say," he continued. "I
have a swan song in me and I think this will probably be it."

On the subject of the reunion in 2005, he reflects on the importance of
the "symbiosis between the four band members, in which I call the
golden years of the band, all we contributed, the combination of the
four separated talents was something very very special”.

However, he has thought about the possible obsticle to another
reunion. “The problem is this one: during 20 years [Pink Floyd] has
been [David Gilmour's] baby, for that reason he is so obstinate. If we
reunited for any reason, I would be delighted to do it. Not a single
show, but a series of events that we could do. It would be very
satisfactory for me... but I do not believe that Dave wants to do it.”

Van Halen Tour 2012 hits Boston

As expected, Van Halen will launch a new tour in 2012 that features David Lee Roth on lead vocals.

The Van Halen tour has been in the works for quite some time. Live Nation most recently named Van Halen as one of its planned 2012 tours during the company's third quarter conference call with shareholders in November. Van Halen Boston Tickets will be on sale early this spring.

However, despite the band's recent confirmation of its plans, little else is known about the tour's expected reach or duration.

On December 26, Van Halen's official Web site posted three video montages to announce the tour. No concert dates or cities are given in the videos, although a January 10 onsale date appears in each.

Considering the near term of that onsale, the first wave of concert announcements is expected to arrive within the next week.

Presumably revealing Van Halen's touring lineup, the montages also show Roth on stage with co-founders and brothers Eddie Van Halen (guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drums), as well as Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen (bass).

This lineup was last on the road for Van Halen's 2007-2008 tour. That venture grossed more than $93 million for 74 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore Van Halen Boston will be sold out in minutes.

In addition to its upcoming tour, Van Halen is also working on a new record that is reportedly scheduled for release sometime in early 2012. The album will be the band's first new effort since 1998's "Van Halen III" and Roth's first recording with the band since the popular 1984 release "1984."

The buzz to bring hockey back to Fenway Park started as soon as Frozen Fenway 2010 ended, particularly among the Hockey East teams watched Boston University and Boston College face off in the outdoor spectacle.

When the event returns to the ballpark on Jan. 7, it will be a regional showcase, hosting a doubleheader with Vermont facing UMass at 4 p.m., and New Hampshire playing Maine at 7:30. Tickets go on sale Sept. 13.

In addition to the hockey games, the rink will be open for two days of free community skating.

“This is going to be a great hockey day in Boston,’’ said Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

The first time around it was an all-Boston event. The Bruins won the Winter Classic over the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime, and BU beat BC, 3-2, in front of 38,472 fans.

“We talked a lot of years about us possibly playing a game like this in a big venue,’’ said UNH coach Dick Umile. “I can’t think of a better place to play than Fenway Park.’’

Maine coach Tim Whitehead said he reached out to Scarborough Downs and also talked to some of the school’s administrators about playing a game on the football field. But discussion about playing at Fenway heated up.

“This is perfect,’’ said Whitehead, whose three team captains are Boston natives. “This is an opportunity to get four teams involved in the city of Boston. Everyone would like the chance to play in one of these signature events, outdoor hockey games.

“I’m just really impressed that they had the vision and the courage to think out of the box here, just to say, ‘Hey, let’s jump off the high board and try it even without a Boston school in it.’ It’s a leap of faith, so we’re very determined to make sure this is a great event and to make them proud.’’

UMass coach Don “Toot’’ Cahoon said as a boy he dreamed of playing at Fenway.

“Never quite made it,’’ he said. “In fact, I missed it by a long shot. It’s a distinct honor and privilege to be able to come to the city of Boston and particularly to Fenway Park for such an affair.’’

The games will be a showcase, but they also will count in the standings. Frozen Fenway Boston Tickets have been selling slowly but are expected to pickup after Christmas.

Just days after two TOOL tour dates appeared and then mysteriously vanished on Ticketmaster's web site, the band has officially unveiled the first batch of shows for a 2012 winter tour. The dates begin on January 14 in Reno, Nevada, with 11 more shows confirmed so far. It is unknown how long the tour will run for, since singer Maynard James Keenan starts another trek with his musical lounge act PUSCIFER on February 23rd in Austin, Texas. The Boston show will be Jan. 28 - Boston, MA - TD Garden Tool Boston Tickets are available now and selling quickly as a hot christmas gift for Teens and young adults.

TOOL last hit the road in mid-2010 for a short run of summer gigs.

The band has reportedly been writing material for its long-awaited new album, which would follow up 2006's "10,000 Days".
A report that they had entered the studio to begin recording turned out to be a joke on the part of the group's webmaster. The recording was actually being done for a side project of drummer Danny Carey.

Keenan has been touring with PUSCIFER behind its second album, "Conditions Of My Parole", and also did some shows with A PERFECT CIRCLE in the past year.

While he enjoys performing, Keenan told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that he's not into the travel. "If I could do something that would get the music out there and get the performances out there in a way that didn't require me leaving home, I would for sure do it," he said. "Soon as they invent an affordable holographic projection of touring, I'm all over it (laughs). A simultaneous performance all across the country, one night, but you stay in one spot and it's holographic — I'm in."

A scheduling gap that can't be filled, however, is the one between Coldplay's spring and summer ventures in the states. Seven UK stadium dates have already claimed the early June portion of Coldplay's calendar, to complement the group's current European tour dates.

Coldplay performs today, December 9, at the O2 in London, England. Additional shows in Europe are booked through December 21 at O2 World in Berlin, Germany.

Rock legends Pearl Jam have finally revealed plans for a spring tour that will bring them to Boston for a show at the TD Garden on Monday, May 17. Paul McCartney is coming to Boston says a spokesperson from greater boston tickets.

While the Red Sox are on the road, McCartney will play two concerts on August 5-6 at Boston’s Fenway Park. As previously reported, a license to hold a concert with pyrotechnics was applied for by Fenway’s management earlier this month.

His August 15 concert in Atlanta's Piedmont Park was just announced this morning (June 24) and will be a benefit for the Piedmont Conservancy. The date is nearly 44 years to the day when he first played Atlanta on August 18, 1965, at the new Fulton County Stadium as a member of The Beatles. He has since returned to the city several times with his post-Beatle group Wings and as a solo performer.

“This is, without a doubt, the biggest thing that’s ever happened to us,” Piedmont Conservancy’s Monica Thornton told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary this year, and this will help us to complete the park’s 53-acre expansion.”

Fan club presales for the Boston shows began on June 24 and end June 27. Tickets range from $69 to $205 (plus convenience and handling fees), with an eight ticket limit per person. Tickets for the general public go on sale on June 29.

Nowhere else is it as rampant as in Boston, MA, where the media has penciled him for August 5-6, but with no hold for any additional shows Sources say that Greater Boston Tickets will be holding the majority of available tickets and selling them at Paul McCartney Boston Tickets .

According to the Boston Herald, the management for Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox, has applied to the city for use of the venue for a concert but without any mention of the artist, who will be revealed at City Hall on June 22.

While Yankee Stadium in New York and Shea Stadium (now Citi Field) have a long history presenting concerts, Fenway was late to the game and only started presenting concerts in 2003 with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, followed by Jimmy Buffett in 2004.

In 2005, Rolling Stones kicked off their Biggest Bang Tour with two concerts at the park. Dave Matthews Band and Sheryl Crow followed in 2006, with The Police in 2007, and Neil Diamond in 2008. This year, Dave Matthews Band and Willie Nelson recently played two shows on May 29-30; Phish followed on May 31.

While there's no word of an official McCartney tour and little information on his official Web site, dates certainly look like they're being lined up, beginning with his July 18 concert at Halifax Common in Halifax, NS.

Multiple media outlets have reported that the Boston Bruins will play host for the 2010 NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park on New Year's Day. Since the first Winter Classic in 2008 in Buffalo, Fenway Park has been among multiple locations vying for the annual outdoor game.

According to a report in the Boston Herald, Boston was chosen over the likes of New York and Philadelphia by the NHL. Fenway was also just one of two possibilities for the game in Boston, as officials checked out Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA as well before deciding on the famous home of the Boston Red Sox.

Despite the multiple reports confirming the game at Fenway between the Bruins and a yet-to-be-named opponent, officials with the NHL, Bruins and Red Sox have yet to make it official.

“Contrary to published reports, at this time we have not finalized plans for a Bruins game at Fenway Park on New Year’s Day,” Bruins Principal Charlie Jacobs said in a statement. “It is no secret that I would love to bring The Winter Classic to the city of Boston - and I have been working with the NHL to consider a number of venues in the area. We believe that we are close to accomplishing this. Bruins fans deserve to have an outdoor game, and we hope to deliver one to them in the near future.”

Fenway Park would be the smallest venue to host the event thus far in its short history with a seating capacity just under 40,000. Last years game at Wrigley Field in Chicago attendance was slightly less than 41,000, while 2008 at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo saw more than 71,000.

While ticket prices have yet to be announced, there is little doubt that this event will be huge draw to the fans of New England.

Effective July, the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, will be renamed TD Garden. The arena's new name will reflect the rebranding of TD Banknorth's New England operations to TD Bank.

The 19,600-seat venue is the home of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association, as well as concerts and family shows.

"Our long term, multi-dimensional partnership with TD Banknorth has continued to be attractive to both parties," said John Wentzell, president of TD Banknorth Garden, in a statement.

U2 riled up a core of rabid fans in Somerville, Mass., Wednesday night when it gave a private concert in a venue a tiny fraction of the size of the stadiums it plans to fill later this year.

The Irish rock band played a 1,000-seat theater in Davis Square as fans swarmed the area, hoping for a way in or for just a glimpse of the musicians.

The group played five songs, four from its new album, for

U2 was big in the Boston area before it was big everywhere, playing there in 1980 during its first North American tour.

''This is where it all began for us, Boston, Mass.,'' said lead singer Bono, who along with the rest of the band, took written questions from the audience after the performance.

There were several days of rumors and speculation before the location for the concert was revealed. Tickets were long gone by showtime, many through local radio stations.

Socrates Cruz, 24, a musician from Cambridge, said he spent almost the entire day calling radio stations trying to win tickets. He didn't succeed but decided to go to the scene anyway.

Reggae-rock crew 311 will ring in the spring with a new studio album and a U.S. tour to match. The coast-to-coast circuit begins April 15 at Rialto Theatre in Tuscon, AZ, and concludes May 15 at Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO.

The theater/club tour will hit nearly 20 cities, including an April 21 show at The Valarium in Knoxville, TN, an April 26 gig at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL, a May 4-5 stand at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC, and a May 14 session at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, OK. Supporting acts have not been announced yet.

The band is touring in support of the group's ninth studio album, "Uplifter." Recording on the project was completed in late January, and an approximate release has been set for late spring. The album was produced by Bob Rock, who also has worked with Metallica and Aerosmith, among others.

The upcoming album will be the first release from the band since 2005's "Don't Tread On Me," which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The record and tour will feature the usual 311 lineup of vocalist Doug "SA" Martinez, lead guitarist Tim Mahoney, rhythm guitarist Nick Hexum, bassist Aaron "P-Nut" Wills, and drummer Chad Sexton.

In early June, 311 also plans to launch its annual summer Unity Tour, which primarily visits amphitheaters across the country. Supporting bands for the summer trek will be announced at a future date. New Found Glory Comes to Boston

Hot off a new deal with Epitaph Records, pop-punk trailblazers New Found Glory (NFG) have announced a new album and North American tour for the spring. The 37-date trek will open with a March 25 concert at The Marquee in Tempe, AZ, and circle back through the state for a closing show on May 10 at the Rialto Theatre in Tuscon, AZ.

The tour circuit will stop for shows on April 1 at Showbox at The Market in Seattle, WA, on April 8 at Warehouse Live in Houston, TX, on April 25 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL, and on May 6 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. Only one show in Canada has been announced so far: an April 28 gig at Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, ON.

NFG will be promoting the March 10 release of the band's seventh studio album, "Not Without a Fight." The disc was produced by musician Mark Hoppus at the studio he co-owns with former Blink 182 bandmate Travis Barker.

Since NFG hadn't signed to a label since departing Geffen Records at the end of their contract in 2006, the band didn't have the capital to pay Hoppus for his efforts up front. But as an old friend of the band's, that wasn't a problem for Hoppus, according to a statement from NFG's guitarist Chad Gilbert. However, the recording process did make the band realize that they would eventually need to shop around for a label.

"Picking a new label was a scary thing for New Found Glory," explained Gilbert in a statement on the band's Web site. "The music industry has been changing so much and more and more bands are being treated and presented like some Wal-Mart pop act with guitars. We have real diehard fans and we wanted to find a home that would represent NFG the right way. A label that knew our music scene."

NFG found what they were looking for at Epitaph, but the deal also helped add an established name to the label's line-up of niche acts and more recent breakthroughs. In a September 2008 statement announcing the new deal, the label's owner and founder Brett Gurewitz stated, "Everybody here is over the moon about working with the greatest pop-punk band in history."

While Gilbert humbly shrugged off the distinction as the "greated pop-punk band in history," he noted that the band has been able to return to its roots with the new record deal: "New Found Glory is back to where we want it to be: we tour, we play music and it's from the heart."

New music and a possible 2009 tour are on the horizon for iconic rock group U2. The Irish band, fronted by musician and activist Bono, announced a March 3 release in the United States for its twelfth studio album "No Line on the Horizon." The album will be issued worldwide a day earlier, March 2.

The record was originally planned for a November 2008 release, but that date was pushed back so the band could cut a few more tracks and complete additional production according to published reports. The release will mark the band's first studio album since 2004's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb."

The release would put Bono and crew on track for a 2009 tour and their first under a recent touring and promotional deal with Live Nation Artists. Monetary details of the 12-year global contract were not initially announced, but reports surfaced in October that Live Nation registered about 1.56 million shares of company stock for U2.

At the time, the stock was estimated to be worth approximately $19 million. However, as the economy and Wall Street continue to suffer, Live Nation recently bought back the stock for $25 million -- the amount contractually assured to U2 -- signifying a $19 million loss by Live Nation based on the stock's current market value.

An early 2009 outing has been widely speculated since this past spring when U2's band manager Paul McGuinness told Billboard that he hoped U2 would launch a tour. An itinerary has not been confirmed by Live Nation, though a road venture would be in keeping with U2's habit of touring after the release of each new album.

U2 were last on the road for the 2005-2006 Vertigo Tour. The outing featured 90 sold-out concerts and grossed $260 million in 2005, according to figures from Billboard Boxscore.

Zappa Plays Zappa frontman Dweezil Zappa is following in his father's footsteps as he recreates and re-imagines Frank Zappa's tunes with a new series of concert dates. AAR kicks off 2009 with a nine-show run of the UK and mainland Europe, which starts January 27 at The Garage in Glasgow, Scotland, and wraps February 10 at La Maroquinerie in Paris, France. From there, it's on to Australia and New Zealand where the band supports Fall Out Boy's six-city run, from February 15 at Challenge Stadium in Perth, through the single show in New Zealand on February 23 at Vector Arena in Auckland.

State Radio will perform at several House of Blues venue locations during the coast-to-coast jaunt, starting with three California shows -- January 15 in West Hollywood, January 17 in San Diego, January 18 in Anaheim -- before heading to the East Coast for a February 8 venue show in New Orleans, LA. Other notable stops include January 30-31 sets at Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO, and a February 21 closer at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI.

Amy Ray will take a bit more time off from the Indigo Girls for a new stretch of U.S. tour dates in 2009. The rocker will start with a January 15 set at Club Down Under in Tallahassee, FL, and continue on the road with more than a dozen shows through her February 7 closer at Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO. Along the way, Ray is scheduled to perform on January 20 at Stubb's Jr. in Austin, TX, on January 24 at Plush in Ruscon, AZ, on January 28 at Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA, and on February 4 at Neumo's in Seattle, WA.

Fleetwood Mac

Classic rock legends Fleetwood Mac have announced plans for their first tour in five years. The Unleashed Tour kicks off March 1 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, PA, and continues through a March 26 concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.

Other highlights of the tour include a March 5 concert at Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, a March 11 performance at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, and a March 19 show at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. More spring and summer dates will be announced in the future.

Public onsales for the Live Nation-produced tour begin on December 15, with a variety of VIP packages and premium seating options also available. American Express cardholders will be able to access an early presale that will run from December 8 at 10 a.m. (local time) through December 14 at 10 p.m. (local time).

"We love our band and think the title of the tour 'Unleashed' perfectly describes how we all feel when we get on stage together -- especially in 2009," the band's four touring members said in a joint statement. "We're so happy to get back out on the road, perform everyone's favorite songs and see our fans."

Earlier in the year, speculation had arisen over whether Fleetwood Mac would ask a guest vocalist along for the ride to substitute for retired keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie. At one point, singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow announced that she was the band's selected replacement -- a statement that the band quickly denied.

"I think we were all a little surprised [Crow] was announcing that to the world with such certainty," principal member Lindsey Buckingham said in an interview with Billboard.

"We have talked about the possibility of bringing another woman into the scene to kind of give Stevie a sort of foil and shake it up a little bit," the guitarist continued, adding that the whole situation "kinda got out of hand."

In conjunction with the recently announced tour dates, Fleetwood Mac will reissue their iconic 1977 album "Rumours" as a CD/DVD boxset. The package will include previously unreleased tracks and video footage from the band's recording session and subsequent performances.

Pop princess Britney Spears unveiled her new album today, supplemented by a host of confirmed dates for her spring 2009 tour of North America. The Circus Starring Britney Spears opens on March 3 at the New Orleans Arena in the singer's native Louisiana and continues its coast-to-coast circuit through the April 28 closer at Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.

The 27-city arena jaunt will make stops along the way for a March 16 concert at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, a March 30 performance at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, and an April 16 show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. The Pussycat Dolls will provide support for all dates on the North American tour leg.

Four dates in Canada are booked for the run, including a March 18 stop at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and an April 8 show at GM Place in Vancouver, BC. Two European dates have already been announced for the singer's world tour: back-to-back shows at the O2 Arena in London on June 3 and 4.

Each stop on the arena tour will be performed like a genuine circus in-the-round with limited "ringside seats" and general admission floor access, according to show details on Ticketmaster. Spears's performance is being choreographed by Wade Robson, with rehearsals beginning next month. AEG Live is producing the tour.

Tickets for all dates of the tour are currently available through a special presale that ends December 5 at 10 p.m. Fans also have the option to buy "Toxic VIP Experience" or "In The Zone" ticket packages. The packages must be purchased in pairs and are available for pick-up through will-call on the night of the event only.

Spears is supporting her sixth studio album, "Circus," which was released today (December 2), the performer's 27th birthday. Digital music store iTunes had been offering a special pre-sale for the record in the weeks leading up to today's release.

Lily Allen will support her sophomore release with nine-date tour of the UK in 2009. Other stops include Acadmy gigs in Bristol on March 18, Birmingham on March 23, and Leeds on March 24. A pre-tour date is also currently shown for a January 28 concert at Koko in London.

Shwayze is prepping for the kick-off of its month-long tour of the U.S. tonight (December 1) at Hawthorne Theatre in Portland, OR. Primal Scream plays the first show of NME's "Rock N Roll Riot" tour of the UK tonight (December 1) at the Academy in Sheffield, and continues on the road through a December 13 gig at S.E.C.C. in Glasgow. After the nine-city jaunt, the rockers aren't calling it quits, but just resting for the holidays, as plans have been announced for a six-show run of Australia in early February. The new jaunt begins February 4 at The Forum in Sydney, and concludes on February 11 at Metropolis Concert Club in Fremantle.

Boston Red Sox Freeze tickets

Last week, the Boston Red Sox front office announced that they would be freezing all tickets for the 2009 season at 2008 prices. The Red Sox, who play at the smallest stadium in Major League Baseball in Fenway Park, are in the midst of a record 469 consecutive sell out streak despite having the highest priced tickets in the game.

Across all sports, teams and leagues are attempting to counteract the tough economic times with a variety of cost cutting measures. The National Football League recently announced they would be lowering post season ticket prices, while teams across baseball have announced either the freezing or lowering of their ticket prices.

"At a time when our fans are maybe feeling some kind of economic adversity, we should show some sensitivity to that at this time," Larry Lucchino said to NECN. (See video below)

In addition, the Red Sox will also be adding 560 new seats to Fenway for the 2009 season and will be located on the right field roof.

Taylor Swift

On sale today are several chances to catch alternative rockers Fall Out Boy in concert. First, the band has tickets on sale for their return home to Chicago, a concert to be held at the Chicago Theatre. Rounding out the list of concerts on sale this weekend are several shows from the singing sensation Il Divo, including stops in Toronto, Vancouver, and various other cities across Canada.

Several sporting events have tickets in the weekend’s onsales. On Monday, tickets for the Pac-10 men's basketball tournament, to be held in Los Angeles, are on sale. Also on sale Monday are tickets for two upcoming stops on the Professional Bull Riders circuit as well as tickets for the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup 3 Day Series in Sonoma, CA.

Finally this weekend, tickets to the upcoming Broadway engagement of 9 to 5: The Musical and tickets to the Dancing with the Stars tour stop in Chicago are also on sale beginning Monday.

David Alan Grier will be out on the road again in a few days for a series of comedy shows in Kentucky and New York. From there, Grier (who sometimes goes by his initials, "DAG") will head north to New York City for four more shows. Little Big Town, currently on tour with Carrie Underwood, will be flying solo in 2009 with more than 20 performances scheduled from January 25 at CB Smith park in Pembroke Pines, FL, through September 26 at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. A majority of the country group's concerts are booked for early 2009, including a February 6 show at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, MS, a February 28 gig at Sam's Town Casino in Las Vegas, NV, a March 19 performance at Northern Lights Theater in Milwaukee, WI, and a March 29 show at Johnston Theatre in Tulsa, OK.

Great Big Sea, often abbreviated to GBS, has added a new run of March concerts to the 2009 itinerary. The 10-date stretch begins March 5 at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA, and continues through March 21 at Ottawa Civic Center Arena in Ottawa, ON. Highlights of the trek include a March 12 gig at Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, NS, a March 19 show at the John Labatt Centre in London, ON, and a March 20 concert at Metropolis in Montreal, QC.
